MAD Logo

The MAD Academy offers a balanced focus between tech and art. It is a pathway where students can learn employable skills related to the tech sector while also finding their voice as media artists. If you want to become a media literate graphic designer, web designer, photographer, or filmmaker, MAD is the pathway for you.

Skills Acquired

  • Adobe Creative Suite literacy including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.

  • Media equipment literacy including camera operation, lighting, sound, and special effects.

Work Based Learning Activities

As part of our work-based learning opportunities, MAD gets students involved with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Our students do red carpet interviews, as well as participate in the SBIFF 10-10-10 student filmmaking competition. Outside of the film festival, MAD offers media arts related  field trips and guest speakers as part of our enriching program. There’s always so much you can learn by talking to professionals about the present state of the industry.

Student Leadership Group

Developing students who are leaders in their community and in their profession is important, and the VADA Student Leadership Council is one way we support this.  We value student empowerment, and VADA Student Leadership acts as a “Mini VADA-ASB” to help us showcase, promote and even influence the program from a student point of view.
