Pathway Description

The Santa Barbara High School Culinary Arts Pathway allows students to explore their creativity through cooking. In Santa Barbara, so much of our local culture centers around food, and the Culinary Arts pathway provides students with the opportunity to learn about what it takes to be a successful chef.

Skills Acquired

  • Professional front of the house (serving) 

  • Back of the house (cooking, cleaning) skills. 

  • Receive Food Handlers Certification that is mandatory for any hospitality industry jobs, potential to obtain the Food Protection Manager Certification

  • Knife skills 

  • Cooking and baking techniques

  • Plating

  • Math skills

  • Teamwork

  • Professionalism
