SB Unified invites junior high families and the community to attend the 2023 High School Program Showcase on November 29, 2023, at Earl Warren Showgrounds.
This event brings together all of our different school academies and programs to give eighth-grade students and their parents the opportunity to see firsthand the different pathways available in high schools.
These special programs are necessary to provide students with valuable insights to various professions, and hands-on learning experience to prepare them for their aspiring careers, or future calling.
During the day, eighth-grade students attending SB Unified schools will be able to visit the event.
Families and community members will be able to attend from 5 to 7 p.m. The opportunity includes visiting different booths and interacting with students and staff representatives from each of the different academy exhibitions, career technical education programs, and visual and performing arts programs from Santa Barbara, San Marcos, Dos Pueblos, and Alta Vista High Schools.
Families can expect to connect and learn from current students enrolled in diverse programs such as: engineering, architecture, theater, multimedia arts and design, computer science, health science, and more.
The purpose of the SBUSD High School Showcase is to ensure that prospective high school students and their families have equitable access to information about the various articulated pathways to take.
Superintendent Dr. Hilda Maldonado expressed her excitement about this year’s showcase and invited all families to this much-anticipated event.
“I believe that when families see the remarkable achievements of our high school students and the incredible resources at their disposal, they will see the potential that exists within our district for their students.” Dr Maldonado said. “We hope that this showcase will encourage parents and prospective high school students to make the best decisions for their educational journey.
The High School Program Showcase is open to the public. Parking and admission are free.
