Program Description
The music department students have unique opportunities to perform all over California and the United States. They perform in a variety of venues from football stadiums, to the Elings Performing Arts Center and the beautiful venues around Santa Barbara. These rehearsals, trips and performances allow students to form friendships and create memories that last a lifetime.
Skills Acquired
Instrumental: Students learn how to perform music of different genres and styles on their instrument both individually and in a group setting. Color guard, drumline and marching band will perform choreography and theatrics as a part of their shows. All ensembles with the exception of orchestra have festival and competitions.
Student Shows, Performances, Competitions & Field Trips
Instrumental: Various marching band competitions, football games, Winter/Spring Concert, Jazz Festivals, community performances, and festivals
Vocal: Cuesta College Vocal Jazz Festival in November, All home football games, Various other home sporting events, All school events such as Back to School Night and Open House, Winter Concert Dec 10, Holiday Caroling at various locations around Santa Barbara, Singing Valentines, Santa Cruz Jazz Festival Mar 18-20, Monterey Jazz Festival Apr 1-3, Live Performing Arts Academy in Sacramento April 28-30, Spring Concert May 20
Clubs
Instrumental: Marching Band and Colorguard are considered co-curriciular activities, all club meetings are during class and practice time
Vocal: All choir classes are considered co-curricular activities, all club meetings are during class and practice time
