San Marcos Entrepreneurship Academy provides a focus for students to become involved in a variety of business courses and engages with real people, business folks and partners, and experiences where business skills are applied. Through collaboration, guest speakers, projects and partnerships SMEA is a way to dive-in and experience what the business world is all about.

Entrepreneurship Academy has opened up so many opportunities

for me. Just a couple years ago, taking the Marketing and Advertising classes led me to be able to get a job where I got to work doing marketing and photography at the Paige Youth Center. Because of my time in the Entrepreneurship Academy, I would have to say that I'm much more of a realist now. You can have great ideas and things can come to fruition, but at the same time, it takes a lot of hard work and not just “the idea”.

Hi everyone I’m Jeffrey Smith, I’m an advisor and mentor to the San Marcos Entrepreneurship Academy. We give them as many life lessons as we can, important things they are going to use, whether they start their own business or not. Skills in public speaking, being able to take and give constructive criticism and work together as a group. Those are all things they do on a pretty regular basis and I'm excited to see what comes out the other end.
