The documents below are a required notification that all employers must provide to all employees as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or “Obamacare.” This notice is intended to inform employees about aspects of the ACA that specifically relate to your ability to purchase medical insurance from the new, federally subsidized, “Marketplace,” which was effective January of 2014. In California, this “Marketplace” is also often referred to as the “Statewide Exchange” and is named “Covered California.”
If you are currently enrolled in the district’s health care plan
The medical coverage that you selected during our current open enrollment will become effective on October 1, 2021, and will continue without any change or interruption. You will also most likely not be eligible for any subsidy or tax credits through Covered California as such, this notice may not seem to be terribly relevant to you. However, it is still required that it be provided to you for your information.
If you are currently not enrolled in the district’s health care plan
Download the attached notice. If you want to purchase health insurance from Covered California, present this notice to a licensed Covered California representative, as it will help make the process go faster. You can begin the process of enrolling in the Covered California medical plans as early as October 1, 2023.
The district is not permitted to enroll you in the plans offered through Covered California, so if you have questions, we urge to you reach out to them directly at www.coveredca.com or call them at 800-300-1506.
