*Per Board ByLaws: Individual speakers are generally allowed three minutes to address the Board on each agenda or
non-agenda item. The time may be reduced by the Board president, depending on the number of speakers on any given issue. Speakers should be prepared to adapt their comments accordingly. When a speaker wishes to comment on multiple items, his/her time may be limited so as not to interfere with the timely completion of the Board’s business.

* Assembly Bill 2449 changes the date on which newly-elected school board members must be seated to the second Friday in December in the year of election. The new law also changes the date of the organizational meeting to on or after the second Friday in December. Finally, the bill changes the date on which governing board members vacate office from the first Friday in December to the second Friday in December.
Posting of Agendas and Attachments
The official copy of the board of education agenda is posted at the main entrance of the Administration Office, Santa Barbara Unified School District, 720 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. The agenda is posted 72 hours in advance of a regular board meeting. Agenda attachments are generally available for inspection in the Administration Office reception area or the Superintendent’s Office before 5:00 p.m. on the Friday prior to a Tuesday board meeting. In the event of an emergency board meeting, the agenda is posted 24 hours in advance of an emergency meeting and the attachments are available in the Administration Office reception area.
The board of education meeting agendas are posted on the district’s web site in accordance with the Brown Act. Every effort is made to upload agenda attachments onto the website in a timely fashion.
Regularly scheduled board meetings are recorded and are generally broadcast on Channel 18 on the Saturday following the meeting at 5:00 p.m. in English, and on the Tuesday following the meeting at 8 a.m. in Spanish. Past meetings are also available for viewing online at www.youtube.com. Check local listings or Channel 18’s website for the date and time of Channel 18’s broadcast of board meetings.
