District Arts Steering Committee
The District Arts Steering Committee guides implementation of SBUSD’s Strategic Arts Plan (2023–2028) to ensure equitable, standards-aligned TK-12 arts learning in dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual art. The committee aligns work to the California Arts Framework and the LCAP, oversees use of the Arts, Music & Instructional Materials Discretionary Block Grant and Proposition 28 (to expand staffing and student enrollment in arts), and monitors progress through a continuous-improvement cycle with regular updates to district leadership and the Board. Core focus areas: Core Curriculum, Professional Development, Equity & Access, Staffing & Leadership, Facilities & Resources, Community Ties.

The District Emergent Multilingual Learner Advisory Committee (DEMLAC) serves as an advisory body to the SBUSD Administration and Board of Education, offering input and feedback on educational programs, policies, procedures, budgets, and specific actions that impact Emergent Multilingual Learners (EMLs) across the District.
DEMLAC is committed to fostering effective intra-district communication and promoting the exchange of needs, accomplishments, and best practices. Its goal is to support the development and implementation of high-quality programs that meet the linguistic and academic needs of EMLs at all stages of their educational journey.

Housing Committee
The purpose of the Housing Ad-Hoc Committee is to provide space and time to consider housing projects, housing issues that affect SB Unified staff (classified and certificated) and explore options, within the purview of the district, to address them (ie. housing projects built on district land). The committee consists of at least one board member, the Superintendent, Asst. Superintendent of Business Services, the Project Manager, the Director of Community Schools & Partnerships, representatives from the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara (HACSB), elected officials (or their representatives), and SB Unified lawyers.
