Update regarding Tuesday, March 17 school board meeting due to COVID-19 health concerns

Attention Santa Barbara Unified School District Community,

Due to school closures and mandates from the state regarding COVID-19 health concerns, we have modified our school board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.

There were several items previously on the agenda that we had expected would generate a high-level of community interest and public comment. Those items, which included proposals on Health Education, the Food Service Department, and META (SBUSD’s plan to create multilingual pathways), will be rescheduled for a future board meeting.

The 6:30 pm board meeting does include a number of essential and timely items for the board to review. Please click HERE to review the full agenda.

Furthermore, please note that this meeting is subject to cancellation on short notice due to COVID-19 health concerns, and board members may participate by phone or video conference. Persons are encouraged to watch the Saturday video of the meeting rather than attend (see Broadcast information on the agenda.) Pursuant to federal advisories, the board room will be limited to a total of 10 people; members of the Board and staff. The overflow room (Anacapa room) will be limited to 10 seats total (first-come, first-serve), with two seats reserved for the Press. Public comment will be permitted, with speakers entering the board room one at a time as called.

Please check our website at www.sbunified.org for further updates.

Thank you,

Santa Barbara School District Board of Education
