Dos Pueblos High School was constructed in 1966 on a 40-acre site. The school serves the needs of students throughout southern Santa Barbara County.
The school’s varied curriculum offers over 165 academic and elective courses. Ninety-six percent of Dos Pueblos students go on to higher education. The school’s test scores have been the highest in the county for the past eight years, 119 points higher than the state average and 113 points higher than the national average. The Academic Performance Index places Dos Pueblos in the top 10% of all high schools in California.
In 2003-04, Dos Pueblos received a six-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The WASC visiting committee noted numerous schoolwide areas of strength, which are listed in the school’s “Annual Report to the Community.” Dos Pueblos teachers, staff members, students, parents and community members formed an “Accreditation Action Plan” that includes the following five areas of focus for the next few years: (1) maintain and improve the learning experiences of all students, (2) prepare all students for educational, career and employment opportunities after graduation, (3) improve and expand the use of technology as a learning tool for all students, (4) improve communication among all stakeholders, and (5) assess the Expected Schoolwide Learning Results.
