The Santa Barbara Unified School District maintains a district-wide Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) for the secondary Advanced Learning Program (ALP). The PTC consists of site trainers, the secondary district coordinator, teachers, and parents. The PTC meets every third Thursday of the month and provides guidance for the district’s program. It advises on the criteria used for student qualification and on the disbursement of funds. It also assists with a thorough evaluation of the Advanced Learning Program. The PTC also conducts a fund-raiser every year. All of the money raised is spent directly for ALP students.
Each school has a site trainer who plans and oversees the secondary Advanced Learning Program and a site advisory body which meets to provide program direction. The school advisory committees which consist of the site trainer, the principal, teachers, parents, and students meet a minimum of three times a year.
Secondary ALP PTC meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Globe Theater at Santa Barbara Junior High School, with a few exceptions.
