San Marcos Wins the County Mock Trial Championship

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!  On Saturday, March 4 twenty one students from San Marcos competed against Dos Pueblos for the title of Santa Barbara County mock trial champion. This is San Marcos’ second championship in the last three years. Students from the prosecution and defense teams matched wits with their opposition in the case of the People v. Cameron Awbrey.  Awbrey was charged with taking advantage of an immigrant worker who was a cook in the defendant’s restaurant.  In the championship trials the defendant was found not guilty of human trafficking and false imprisonment.  The San Marcos team is lead by teacher Luke Ohrn and attorney volunteers, Hilary Dozer, Leila Noel, Neil Levinson, Barry Cappello, and Joel Kriner.

Next up for these litigating Royals is the State Championship competition in Riverside during the weekend of March 24-26.Mock Trial team
