Congressman Carbajal’s Visit to Monroe Elementary School

Salud Carbajal with Monroe StudentsCongressman Salud Carbajal recently paid a visit to Monroe Elementary School. He spoke to students in grades 4-6 about his own background and the struggles and challenges he faced when he was growing up in a family of ten. The family lived in a small copper mining town and his father worked in the mines. Following the closure of the mines, the family moved to Oxnard, where his father worked in the fields. Congressman Carbajal encouraged students to set goals, dream big, and follow their dreams. The speaking engagement was coordinated by sixth grade teacher Cory Cordero-Rabe.
