San Marcos High Braces for a Poetry Slam

The annual San Marcos High School Poetry Slam is underway this week. Students in the AAPLE Academy (Accelerated Academic Program for Leadership and Enrichment) are running the December 13-15 event. The students’ goal for this event is to provide a platform for their peers that allows them to share their voices on relevant social issues. Fourteen students signed up to participate and a dozen judges, ranging from teachers to local poets/storytellers to UCSB English literature professors.
