On Saturday, October 8, the Dos Pueblos Marching Band and Dance Guard traveled to Royal High School in Simi Valley to participate in their first field competition of the year. Out of the seven division 2A bands the Dos Pueblos Chargers took first place with a score of 64.8. First place awards also went to members of the dance guard and percussion sections, a clean sweep of first in their division. Instrumental Music Director Dan Garske said, “It was an exciting day for the band and they hope to qualify for SCSBOA Championships by finishing in the top 10 Southern California bands at the end of November.”
Dos Pueblos High School’s field show is entitled “Behind the Walls” and uses abstract frame props to convey the idea of a dollhouse expanding and the elements inside escaping. The band will perform at Dos Pueblos High School during halftime of the Dos Pueblos High vs Buena High football game on October 14. The band’s next competition is at Valencia High School on October 22 at 2:00 p.m. The program is under the direction of Dan Garske; original music composed by Lozell Henderson; dance guard choreography by Idonarose Orr; and marching drill design by Eric Salas.
