SMHS Entrepreneurship Academy Students Hear from Grad/Facebook Program Manager

Tasha-Zuzalek-3On Friday, August 26, Facebook’s Small Business Policy Program Manager Tasha Zuzalek visited the Marketing 101 class at San Marcos High School. A 2004 graduate of San Marcos, Ms. Zuzalek spoke about her rise from scheduling coordinator for Lois Capps to her position at Facebook and the corporation’s mission “make the world more open and connected.”

Entrepreneurship Academy students asked questions of Ms. Zuzalek, including what the perks of working at Facebook are, what her typical day is like, and how her degree helped her in her various positions. Ms. Zuzalek sent t-shirts to the students and encouraged them to explore the world, take risks and learn from their mistakes, and develop and maintain relationships with everyone you meet. Her unique path from UCSB to Washington, D.C. reinforced her view that “it’s the people you meet and the relationships you keep that help you succeed in life.”

Sophomore Izabella Garfias added, “Ms. Zuzalek showed us that taking risks changed her life, and showed my peers and I that we should step out of our comfort zones, to not have boundaries, and shoot for anything we dream of becoming.”
